Each year since 2004 Peter Palmer and his brother-in-law James Lewis have cycled to Tenby from Cardiff for fun, a total of 100 miles. Since the first time, various friends and colleagues have joined in and in 2008 40+ riders completed the ride.

Often we were asked if the ride is for charity, so in 2006 we formed our own fund raising charity, CARTEN 100. (CARdiff to TENby 100 miles). With some generous sponsorship and the sale of cycling shirts we raised over Carten 100 riders at the start 2006£6000 for Ty Hafan, the Children’s Hospice in Wales. In 2007 we raised £5000 for The Joshua Foundation and in 2008 £6007 for Ty Hafan.

Riders have usually been new to this type of distance, so we have encouraged everyone to do some training for a few weeks prior to the ride to prepare the legs and backside! In the last 3 every rider has completed the ride apart from one rider who had the mis-fortune of his bike gears disintegrating about six miles from Tenby. He hoping finished in 2007!

In 2006 we were sponsored by Sofa Sofa and Admiral with their logos on our shirts helping to complete a team image. Over the last two years the numbers of shirt sponsors has increased and in 2008 as well as Sofa Sofa, we had, Biotec, MCI Logistics, Corner Park Garages, The Crown Inn Tenby, Ergo Solicitors, Tenby Cycles and Lewis Opticians.
